This is a story of a beloved teacher named Goso who taught children under a calabash tree. One day Paa the hungry Gazelle went to steal some fruit hanging from the calabash tree. He shook the tree so hard that the fruit fell on Goso’s head and killed him instantly. The children were very upset and wanted to find out who had killed their teacher.

The sky god decides to give Anansi the spider a pot of wisdom. He is so excited by all he learns from looking into it that he wants to hide it in a tree so that he can keep it all to himself. Unfortunately for him (but fortunately for the people of the world), the pot falls and breaks.
