One day a man met a beautiful woman in the forest. Although he was married he immediately fell in love with the woman and wanted to marry her. She told him she could not marry him because she had only one breast. She asks him to cut off his wife’s breast and bring it to her, and then they will marry.

The story tells of Khayanga, a 10 year old girl who is taken in by a distant, poor and frail relative after the death of her parents. Her loss and pain lead her to seek guidance and comfort from her parents’ graves. As a sign that they are always with her, she is miraculously given the gift of a very special gourd and it becomes the source of comfort and good luck. Khayanga experiences the presence of her mother through songs and this special gourd.
